Self.RPG Privacy Policy
Effective 6 October 2026
Self.RPG is built to keep your information on your iPhone. It has no accounts, no servers, no
analytics and no advertising. The developer never receives your data, because the app never
sends it anywhere.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored only on your device, inside Self.RPG's own storage. Self.RPG does not
sync it to iCloud or send it to the developer or anyone else. Like all app data, it is included in
your iPhone's own backups if you have them switched on.
- Your character's name, level and XP, and the history of how it was earned.
- Your 30 day plan and the quests you plan, and whether you completed them.
- The answers you give when building a plan about your current habits (for example how much
you sleep, exercise or use your phone), kept so the app can show how you have changed. If
you give your age, sex, height and weight to work out a calorie target, they are used once
for that calculation and not stored.
- Your settings: alarm and bedtime times, reminder times, focused work, meditation and journal
goals, calorie targets, and your Screen Time limit.
- Records of wake-ups (including the step count used to judge them), focused work sittings,
meditation sessions, Screen Time days, and the figures you enter when you complete a quest
(such as sets and minutes of a workout, or the calories you ate).
- Your journal entries. Self.RPG counts their words to work out your reward; it does not
read, analyse or share what you write.
Screen Time and blocked apps
If you allow it, Self.RPG uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity
and Managed Settings) to block the apps you choose during focused work, to tell you whether you stayed under your daily
Screen Time limit, and, if you switch it on, to block the apps you choose for the rest of the day
once you reach that limit.
- The apps you choose are held as opaque tokens created by iOS. Self.RPG cannot see which apps
they are, and they never leave your device.
- iOS tells Self.RPG only when a usage threshold is reached, not what you did. Self.RPG uses
these thresholds to record your limit and a range for your total screen time each day (for
example "between 1 h 30 min and 1 h 45 min"), stored on your device to show your progress.
It never learns which apps you used or for how long each.
- The exact total shown on the Screen Time page is displayed by an iOS extension that has no
way to pass it back to the app; it is never stored.
- This information is used only to run these features for you. It is never shared, sold,
used for advertising, or passed to any third party.
Motion and steps
If you allow it, Self.RPG reads your step count from your iPhone for the few minutes after your
wake alarm, to check that you got out of bed. It stores the count for that morning only.
Notifications and alarms
Alarms and reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS. No notification is sent from a
server.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Self.RPG checks your
subscription status with Apple on your device; it never sees your payment details. Apple's
handling of purchases is described in Apple's own privacy policy.
Exporting and deleting your data
You can export everything Self.RPG has recorded, including your journal entries, from
Settings, Backup, whether or not you are subscribed. The export is a file you choose where to save; the app does not send it anywhere.
Deleting Self.RPG from your iPhone deletes all of its data.
Children
Self.RPG is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective
